Tooth Extractions & Wisdom Teeth Removal

While prevention is always our preferred path to dental health, there are times when a tooth is badly decayed or damaged and has a poor long term chance of survival even with the use of Root canal treatment and crowns. If this is the case, an extraction will likely be the most effective treatment to maintain your oral health.

What Is A Tooth Extraction?

A tooth extraction involves the removal of a tooth or teeth that are beyond any restorative treatments. We will only recommend this course of treatment as a last resort. Some of the reasons you may need a tooth extraction include:

  • Severe Decay
  • Trauma
  • To relieve crowding
  • Infection that cannot be remedied with Root Canal Treatment
  • Gum disease
  • Problematic Wisdom Teeth

What Can I Expect From My Tooth Extraction Appointment?

Before an extraction is performed an X-ray will be taken to determine the most appropriate course of treatment. If an extraction is indicated, the experienced team at Albion Dental Care having performed countless extractions will remove the tooth with as little discomfort as possible.

If you suspect a problem with a tooth we recommend making an appointment for a general check up as soon as possible. You may be able to avoid an extraction and instead receive other restorative treatments such as a filling ,root canal or crown. It is also then important to maintain a regular check up schedule to ensure that any future issues are identified before they require more extensive treatments to resolve.
