Check Up & Clean

Here at Albion Dental Care, we recommend a visit to the dentist for a check-up once every 6 months. Regular examinations help to maintain the health and longevity of your teeth and gums

We Can Monitor Your Dental Health

Prevention is better than a cure so making a regular check-up and clean part of your routine is ideal. We pride ourselves on building relationships with your patients meaning that the more often you visit us, the easier we can monitor your dental health over time, providing more tailored recommendations and a personalised dental care plan for maintaining dental health. Our highly trained team will be able to identify potential issues before they become a serious problem.

Deeper Cleaning Than At-Home Care

No matter how thorough your at-home dental care routine is there are certain types of plaque and tartar can only be removed by a professional dentist using the correct equipment which is why regular appointments are so important.

If you have not visited the dentist in the last 6 months, we strongly recommend you make an appointment, especially if you experience any pain or discomfort when eating or brushing your teeth.

Mouthguards

Custom made mouthguards are a simple way to protect your teeth and jaws from life changing injuries that can occur while playing contact sports.

Unlike loose fitting mass produced mouthguards, custom mouthguards offer a superior fit, improving protection of the teeth and gums.

What to Expect at Your Check Up & Clean Appointment

All our appointments start with a conversation. If you are a new patient, we will discuss your dental history and any concerns you might have. If you are a regular client, we will discuss any issues that have arisen since your last appointment.

Before your treatment begins, the dentist will do complete check-up – looking at not only your teeth but also your gums, mouth, jaw joints and whether any teeth grinding, or clenching is occurring.

During the procedure, your dentist will remove plaque and tartar build up as well as clean the teeth and gum line. The way in which this will be done will be dependent on the amount of cleaning that needs doing. Some of the ways this can be done is through an ultrasonic tooth cleaner, a hand scaler or a combination of both. If you have sensitive teeth, manual scaling might be the best option for you to make the procedure as comfortable as possible. Lastly, the teeth are polished to remove any residual stains and painted with a protective fluoride varnish.
