How Do Dentures Work?
Dentures are a popular and cost-effective way to replace missing teeth. A metal plate is designed and made to fit the wearers mouth. This provides them with a well-fitting denture that has the full functionality of healthy teeth. The plate is then fitted with artificial teeth made to appear natural and match your other teeth.
If you are missing some or all your teeth, then dentures might be the right option for you. Contact our team today so we can help get back your confident smile.
Immediate or Partial Dentures?
There are two types of dentures: full dentures which replace all the teeth in the upper or lower jaw or both as well as partial dentures which replace only some teeth. At Albion Dental Care, we can provide both full and partial dentures. Our team will be able to provide you with recommendations on which option would be best for you based on your circumstances. Normally, we aim to keep as many of your natural teeth as possible. For patients who are having teeth removed and are concerned about the amount of time that they would be without teeth before having their denture made need not worry. Immediate dentures can be the solution. Immediate dentures are made in advance and are designed to be fitted at the same appointment as the teeth are being removed.

Immediate Dentures
Full dentures replace all of the teeth in the upper and lower jaws, and are usually made of acrylic. Full dentures restore your chewing functionality as well as regaining the confidence of a natural smile. If you are missing all your natural teeth, we will construct full dentures to bring back all chewing functionality as well as regaining the appearance of a confident and natural smile. In our experience, full upper dentures fit well by suction however full lower dentures pose more problems with fit as less suction is available. Therefore, we will try to retain as many teeth in your lower jaw as possible to allow for a better fit of partial dentures.
Partial Dentures
Partial dentures are made to fill in the gaps if you have some of your teeth missing. They are either made of acrylic or a combination of metal base and acrylic. They are held in place with small retaining clasps integrated into the denture design. Precision attachments are also sometimes used to improve denture retention.
